Malaysian British Educational Cooperation Services (MABECS) holds Oxbridge Application Briefing for the eligible applicants at City University Malaysia
City University Malaysia, Petaling Jaya, 31 May 2018 : -
The Malaysian British Educational Cooperation Services (MABECS), together with City University Malaysia, held a special briefing session for the University’s A-Level students who qualified and wish to apply to Oxford or Cambridge in the United Kingdom (UK) for next year’s intake.
Held at City University Malaysia’s PJ Campus, the hour-long session was organized to amplify the knowledge and expand the options for the students who qualified.
Two senior consultants from MABECS, Ms Wong Choy Wan and Ms Thilagawathy Kannipan imparted the necessary details and valuable information to the students to help expedite their application process. They gave a detailed brief on both Oxford and Cambridge regarding the joint degrees, subject differences, local interviews and two female-only colleges (for Cambridge) to ensure that the students fully understand and make the right choice. They even shared winning points which could make them stand out from the rest, starting with excellent test results, having a passion for the course that they are applying for as well as being a matured all-rounder.
Ms Thilagawathy commented :
“Oxford and Cambridge are so exclusive that the students cannot apply for both together. They can only choose one. But I am happy to see their enthusiasm today as they get to know more about their possible future school.”
The speakers also shared pictures of Oxbridge, the students’ activities and its surroundings as well as information on the interview stage. The panel would not be testing memory specifically, but more towards engagement with the subject, the ability to answer any new problems and whether the students read widely and often. Applicants are encouraged to visit the university’s website and watch the videos of actual interviews been conducted. Most of the students who do get admitted are the ones that apply specifically, do constant reading, check out their syllabus and research papers and follow all other tips and advices as shared earlier by the speakers.
City University Malaysia wishes all the best of luck and success to our potential UK-bound students and fully supports them in choice for further education.
