City University is established as a private higher education institutions (PHEI) for 33 years is and among the earliest in the country. Originally known as Petaling Jaya Community College (PJCC), which was established in 1984. At that time, PJCC’s role is to prepare students for the American Degree Programme (ADP) in the United States.

In 2000, the PJCC had been managed by Selia Group, a renowned engineering and construction company in the country. PJCC was transformed into a college. Several twinning programmes were establish with several universities in Australia, United Kingdom and United States. In 2003, the name of PJCC was changed to Unity College International (UCI). In 2010, the UCI was upgraded to University College and known as City University College of Science and Technology (CUCST).

On 8 November 2016, after evaluating the academic ability, which includes offered programmes, the capacity of academicians and staff, and existing facilities, the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) has agreed to award CUCST a full university status, known as City University or City U in short.

To date, City University has eight faculties and three learning centre (Centre of Foundation Studies, Centre of Languages and the Centre of Graduate Studies), which offers 64 programmes which have been accredited, including Bachelor and Master (Master of Business Administration & Master of Arts) programme, Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). In addition, there are several options in Diploma programmes, academic staff also being improve and more senior academic positions have been created.

However, vital City University goals remain unchanged, these include:

  1.  Always be alert and concern to the needs of students; educate them as perfect as possible to deal with the employment and the community.

  2. Ensure graduates of City University are able to carry out duties as professionals in their respective fields.

  3. Diligently strive to produce graduates who are well balanced - graduate who are not only professional and skilled in their respective fields, but also educated, cultured, courteous and always willing to volunteer to contribute to the society’s welfare and the global community as a whole.

City University glorious achievement does not stop there. City University has collaborated with Vatel, a renowned international business school hotel and tourism management from French. This collaboration has established Vatel Kuala Lumpur that is located in the campus of the City University. It directly list the Vatel Kuala Lumpur as one of more than 30 Vatel’s campuses around the world.

With all the achievements as well as preparations and experience of 33 years in the industry and has succeeded in producing over 20,000 graduates, I as the Pro-Chancellor of City University is pleased to welcome you to the City University and become part of us, citizens of the City University.
